Our Kin capsule is inspired by the bond between Mahsa and her sister Ella, founded in the ongoing support they give each other. Growing up together, borrowing each other’s clothes, sharing sadnesses and celebrations, they developed a deep bond that uplifts, provides solace in hard times and amplifies moments of triumph.
The capsule is a tribute to the comfort of familiarity and history, of things that change and yet stay the same, and the power of the emotional connections we weave through our lives.
It features Mahsa’s three most recognisable blouses: the Bow Blouse (Mahsa’s favourite), Ruffle Blouse (Ella’s favourite) and Everyday Blouse (the customers’ favourite). Each has been rendered in beloved limited-edition fabrics, creating a capsule where familiarity and difference bounce back and forth like the similarities of look and gesture that develop between siblings or long-time friends.
A Mahsa-exclusive hazel gingham cotton that has been requested by many customers was specially re-milled for all three hero blouses in the capsule, and a roll of beautiful tea-coloured Swiss Dot cotton with a lovely handle that Mahsa had kept aside for something special has found the rainy day it was being saved for.
The classic colourways that are long-time staples of the label return, now in organic cotton voile, and there’s a new powder-blue Italian poplin fabric for the Everyday Blouse, a piece that’s perfect for layering as the seasons change.
Shot by Apela Bell in Mahsa’s Titirangi home in the west coast bush, the Kin capsule campaign symbolises the tapestry of emotional connections we weave throughout our lives, rooted in friendship, solidarity and mutual understanding. “We inspire and support each other through life. It is a profoundly good bond and it only gets better,” says Ella.
