A return to what feels good, as we celebrate 10 years of Mahsa.
Coming Home II came quite intuitively. For us, it was about going back to a place that felt adventurous, grounding and inspiring, so we returned to Whāingaroa, where the ocean meets the bush and the same beautiful modernist house sits overlooking a world-renowned left-hand point break.

We had been talking with artist and photographer Kate van der Drift, and with a local friend who looks after the house, and somehow it all came together as it was meant to, which is often how the best things seem to happen.
There is something about being in a place like that, surrounded by the ocean, bush and big skies, that makes you think differently about what you actually want around you, and for us that naturally brought us back to clothing and the idea of clothes becoming part of your life rather than sitting apart from it.
The pieces you instinctively reach for, the ones you wear often, live in and come to rely on, and those pieces that can feel completely everyday but can also take you somewhere a little more special depending on where you are, what you are doing or simply how you feel. That became the starting point for Coming Home II.
There is ease and romance in the collection, but also a sense of utility, with familiar Mahsa silhouettes gently shifted and evolved to create new expressions of the wardrobe while keeping that feeling of pieces you know and return to.

The palette came quite directly from the landscape around us — Warm Sheer Cream, Fresh Organic Navy, textural Kelp and Dark Olive — with natural fibres and organic cottons continuing to sit at the heart of the collection.
Fabric always plays an important part of the story for us; we love finding cloth with its own character, beautiful texture, movement and depth, but ultimately something you want to live in, wear often and keep, because we think the best clothes are the ones that become more familiar and more loved over time.
And then there is the olive green polka dot, created especially for the House of Mahsa as a little nod to celebration. Playful, feminine and slightly unexpected, it brings a sense of joy to the collection and felt like a lovely way to celebrate 10 years of Mahsa.

Perhaps that is what Coming Home II is really about: the clothes we choose to live in, the places that inspire us, and the things we return to because they simply feel good. As we celebrate 10 years of Mahsa, it feels right to come home to that.
“Home is a feeling. We want every Mahsa piece to belong in that place — easeful, enduring and elegant enough to become part of the memories made there.”
