Mahsa’s debut collection, Beautiful Imperfection was inspired in part by the Japanese notion of wabi-sabi, as well as the clean lines of mid-century Modernism.
Featuring trans-seasonal, easy to layer garments in natural fabrics like muslin, voiles and linen, with unfinished edges and earthy Antipodean tones, the Mood explored the appeal of the raw and unfinished juxtaposed against elegant lines and a soft Romanticism in the materiality.
From this first Mood, the foundations of Mahsa’s signature style were in evidence – design cues from abroad – in this case, Japan – romantic details, such as the oversized bow and full sleeves of the Bow Blouse, masculine tailoring in the vest and trousers, and Modernist-inspired simplicity.
