As we move into autumn proper, we’re delighted to be able to release in-house a beautiful trans-seasonal shirt that originally arose from a collaboration with our friends at Everyday Needs.

A relaxed, boxy, go-everywhere classic in architectural cotton with a canvas handle, the Tama Shirt named for the Māori word for ‘boy’ (as well as Mahsa’s brother), but as the word is also found in other languages – in Japanese it means ‘whole’, in Native American ‘beautiful’ and in Hebrew, ‘surprise’ – we feel the name gives it an international relevance.

For us, its ease and simplicity calls to mind the relaxed-yet-chic East Coast style seen in Slim Aarons photos, which we have subtly adapted for Aotearoa’s city streets and coastal holiday spots.

The fit is unisex – Small fits a small man in a relaxed way, so women should take a size down from their regular size. The double-layer yoke with box pleat at the back gives shoulder movement, while the chest pocket has an angle to match the sleeve placket. External French seams tie the relaxed feel together. Details are everything.

Available in IvoryKhakiLight Blue and Black, with shell-rimmed buttons.
